You can make free websites with Notion and Canva now! You can even add a custom domain if you want (you do have to pay for the domain itself - I got mine from SquareSpace but NameCheap is another great place to get one).

Anyway, I made a couple templates for portfolio websites!

Feel free to use them however you want - just make sure you update all the placeholder images so my face isn't on them!

Notion

Notion isn't as pretty but it's way easier to use than canva.

Here's the notion template:

Here's the checklist of things you should customize before hitting publish and shipping it out:

  • all images (they all have my face rn → If you want to make them have shapes and cutouts like mine, I made these in Canva. Pick a shape, remove the background of the image of you, put it on top of the shape! Super simple. I made these in a 500x500 canvas)
  • all text inside brackets (looks like this: [text])
  • hyperlinks (currently there are NO hyperlinks in there, so make sure you hyperlink all the bold all caps text in the callouts (the little colored boxes) and the logos to your social media)
  • logos (there are a bunch of spots where you can put your clients' logos under your about section)
  • case study buttons (create a page in your notion that's public and published to the web, each should contain 1 case study, link that page to the case study buttons that say "read more" → feel free to change the color of these or the icon!)
  • the blog!! (under "more of my work" → delete all the sample pieces and tags and pop in your own pieces and tags!!)
  • cover (the cover image is currently just a placeholder "logo" that I made to create the template - replace it with whatever you want! An image or something you make in canva!)

Here's an example of the Notion one customized.

And another example from Pop Clubber Stephanie.

Canva

Canva is super pretty and not super hard to use. BUT if you want to use Canva, your portfolio pieces need to be hosted on another site.

If you don't have any client work to link to yet, you can publish your samples on LinkedIn as articles and then link those (or wherever you want! You could even pair it with this blog template on Notion).

  • featured work & more of my work (link to individual articles or link to pieces in a Notion hosted blog)
