How to Manage Multiple Niches on LinkedIn

If you offer more than one service or work in more than one niche, you don't need multiple LinkedIn accounts. You just need one profile you're willing to update.

Here's how I do it.

Pick your anchor

Your anchor is the niche or service that makes up the majority of your income and the majority of your time. For me, that's been SaaS writing — it pays more and the contracts are more consistent. My outdoor writing work is one project per month or quarter, depending on the size.

Your profile should default to your anchor. You only switch it when you're actively looking for clients in your secondary niche — and once you land one, you switch it back.

What to change when you switch

Four things:

Headline — write a separate version for each niche and swap it out when you're in search mode

About section — write one for each niche; each version can mention that you do both, but it should lead with whoever you're trying to attract right now

Featured section — update it to highlight the most relevant work for the clients you're currently pitching

Posts — lean into content that speaks to the clients you're actively looking for

Make it easy on yourself

Keep a Google Doc or nOtion Page with all your saved headlines and About sections so switching takes five minutes, not an afternoon. I keep mine there along with headlines I want to test in the future.

I even keep my images for my banner, profile picture, and featured section in there so I don’t have to track them down.

Your LinkedIn profile is a living document. Updating it isn't a big deal — it's the same as changing your Instagram bio. Don't be precious about it.
